"NAVDWARE PURE DEHI"

"Two Nasal Passages
Two Ears
Two Eyes
One Mouth
These add up to Seven
There are two in the middle part of the body, taking the complete count to nine.
The Bhagwadgita refers to the body as 'Navdware pur Dehi'.
Our body is a veritable fortress, protected by a thick layer of skin that covers & protects its major part. Every fortress must necessarily have gates to permit easy ingress and egress and an easy contact with the external world from where it has to draw its sustenance. A strong survival instinct guides their operation and each one is either positioned in such a way or has certain attributes that provide adequate protection to them. There is an in - built mechanism in each of these openings which ensures that protection.
The Nasal - it is advisable to perform blowing out operations five to ten times during the course of the day. This will achieve 2 things, 1- it will throw out tiny particles that invariably deposit on the inside walls of the nose. 2- it will help to jettison the residual carbon - dioxide in the body.
The Eyes - the only organs in our body that gets oxygen directly from the atmosphere are our eyes. Every other part in our system gets it's oxygen supply from the process of blood circulation and the circulatory system. Polluted air or air ladden with smoke or suspended particles are injurious to our eyes directly and hence, there is need for taking adequate care in this regard.
One should try to maintain adequate moisture inside the eyes by washing them two to three times a day. The preferred time is early in the morning and before going to bed. Our eyes have a soft covering and care must be taken to wash them with clean water, in a mild manner. Do not ever hit the eye balls with strong splash or a jet of water.
Emotional upsurge of any kind that is extreme in nature brings tears to our eyes. These could be tears of joy, extreme pain and sorrow. Our eyes sometimes become wells of water on seeing something that touches us deeply. An act of great human kindness for instance or an act of great sacrifice for saving another life does bring tears to one's eyes. All events that brings in tears to our eyes and keep them moist, except those thay are occasioned by pain and sorrow are preferable.
The Mouth - food should be taken in small quantities and chewed properly before its entry into stomach. Our intestines are designed to take in food only in small parts. Also teeth should be fully used for purpose for which they are meant. They must also get enough exercise which they get only during the process of chewing. Brushing our teeth should not be treated as a necessary evil and should be performed slowly and softly to avoid peeling off the essential layer of enamel which is the strongest material in our body. Brushing teeth twice a day also helps strengthening of heart muscles.
The Ears - frequent cleaning of ear lobes and passage inside, keeps our power of hearing intact for a long period. Any frictional resistance caused to sound reduces its efficacy considerably.
Passage for Major Excreta - thankfully our genitals and passage for major excretion have been positioned at one of the safest places of our anatomy. They are far removed from other openings of the body, completely removing any chance of self - inflicted infections.
However, the need to keep them in perfectly hygiene state can not be overemphasized. Urinary tract is prone to infections because of the nature of material it has to deal with and care should be taken to keep it absolutely clean.
Human body is a veritable temple, literally and metaphorically. Most householder's make an extra effort to keep the little temple in their homes, absolutely neat & clean. It is equally important to treat one's body as a temple and maintain it in a pure and hygiene state. Nature has done its bit in making the structure of human body as safe as possible so it is upto us to ensure its primal state.
Uninterrupted and a balanced movement is the key to our absolute well-being.
